sfh - internal
The agency was facing inefficiencies in managing accounting operations, particularly in monitoring payments and reconciling financial records, which was prone to errors and consumed a lot of manual effort.
My task was to develop a system that could automate these processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall management of accounting operations.
I deployed an internal control system that featured automated payment monitoring through banking API integrations. This allowed the system to track payments in real time, automate account management tasks, and reduce the need for manual intervention.
The implementation of this system led to a doubling of overall efficiency, improved account management by 2.1 times, and reduced financial reconciliation errors by 75%. This project not only streamlined accounting operations but also freed up significant time for the team to focus on more strategic tasks.
In addition, I also developed an Automated Reporting System that connected to advertising platforms' APIs. This system saved approximately 2.5 hours of manual work daily for each significant project and enhanced productivity by 40% while improving reporting accuracy by 85%.
Overall, these projects had a substantial impact on the agency's operational efficiency and accuracy, demonstrating the value of automation in streamlining complex processes.
dve - real estate
At Digital Vertex Enterprises, my team and I were tasked with redeveloping a Management System for a Real Estate Company. This was not a new project but rather an existing one with no documentation, requiring us to first understand the legacy code before making improvements.
Initially, I focused on refactoring large, unwieldy sections of code—some exceeding a hundred lines—by breaking them down into smaller, manageable components. This made the codebase more maintainable and easier to work with.
Next, I implemented several optimization strategies:
- Static Site Generation (SSG) and Server-Side Rendering (SSR): By pre-rendering pages either during the build or on-demand, we significantly improved the initial load times, especially for high-traffic pages.
- Optimizing Assets and Images: I utilized Next.js's built-in image optimization features and implemented efficient caching strategies for serving assets, which greatly reduced the load times.
- Reducing JavaScript Bundle Size: Through dynamic imports, code-splitting, and removing unnecessary dependencies, we minimized the JavaScript payload, leading to quicker page loads.
- Using Next.js Middleware: We implemented middleware to handle redirects, authentication, and caching at the edge, which reduced the server's workload and improved response times.
- Improving Data Fetching Strategies: By optimizing data fetching using getStaticProps and getServerSideProps, we ensured that only necessary data was sent to the client, enhancing the application's performance.
These efforts collectively resulted in a 35% improvement in page load speed. Additionally, the project was completed two months ahead of schedule. We also provided thorough documentation, making future updates feel like a smooth and enjoyable process, rather than deciphering ancient hieroglyphs.
dve - amazon
At Digital Vertex Enterprises, I was involved in the development of an Analytics and Ad Management System for a major retailer on Amazon.
My primary responsibility was to create a data collection system that would provide accurate and actionable insights into the retailer's ad performance. Leveraging the Amazon API, I built a comprehensive data collection framework that allowed us to gather detailed metrics on ad campaigns, product performance, and customer engagement. This system led to a 20% increase in reporting accuracy, providing the retailer with a clearer picture of their ad strategies.
In addition to data collection, I integrated advanced ad management tools that helped the retailer optimize their ad spend. By analyzing the collected data, I was able to identify areas of inefficient budget allocation. I then implemented features that reduced non-targeted ad spending by 28%, ensuring that the retailer's budget was focused on high-performing, targeted ads. This not only improved ad performance but also significantly enhanced cost-efficiency.
Overall, this project delivered substantial business value by providing the retailer with precise analytics and effective tools for managing their ad campaigns, resulting in better performance and lower costs.
dve - crm
At my last job at Digital Vertex Enterprises, my team and I worked on a CRM project for a newly funded startup.
I was responsible for developing a robust authorization system and implementing a permissions management framework to secure client-server interactions. The primary task was to ensure that the system could securely handle sensitive user data and that only authorized personnel could access specific resources and data.
To address this challenge, I first designed and implemented an authorization system using JWT tokens. This allowed for stateless authentication, which improved the scalability and security of the application. I also developed a detailed client-server permissions system that included role-based access control (RBAC). This system defined permissions based on user roles, ensuring that only authorized users could access particular resources and perform specific actions within the CRM.
As a result, the robust authentication and permissions systems I developed provided reliable protection of sensitive data, and user authentication was both efficient and secure.
Several factors set me apart from other candidates
Several factors set me apart from other candidates.
One of my key strengths is my ability to solve business problems. I constantly ask myself - what can I do better? Do we have code that needs documenting? Is there any code that needs to be fixed?
Another crucial strength is my methodical approach to problem-solving, breaking down complex issues into manageable tasks to create efficient and elegant solutions.
The third significant aspect is collaboration. I excel in a team environment, actively interacting with colleagues to understand the project requirements, share ideas, and collectively achieve the project's goals.
To sum up, my diverse skill set, ability to solve problems, focus on code quality, collaborative approach, and commitment to continuous learning make me an exceptional candidate for a developer role.
Describe your routine
I like to start my workday with task planning. For this, I prefer to be at my workstation 15 minutes before the workday begins.
First thing, we have a call with the team. In this brief meeting, we review the task stack in JIRA and the progress throughout the sprint. Our goal is to close the most of the priority tasks. To determine priorities at the start of the sprint, we distribute tasks according to the Eisenhower matrix principle.
If any team member is having issues with their tasks, we can organize an additional call to collectively solve the problem. Personally, I like working with the Pomodoro technique. My day is divided into meaningful blocks with short breaks in between. This allows me to dive deep into tasks, read others' code, spend adequate time on documentation, and even keep up with news or interesting articles in our field.
I have developed a habit of summarizing my day at the end and writing a brief note about what was done and what I need to do tomorrow or discuss on the call for each task I'm involved in.
If someone has a different viewpoint to do a project like a different programming language, how would you handle this situation?
If a team member offers a different viewpoint, it's essential to discuss it collectively with the entire team working on the project.
We need to weigh all the pros and cons. I always look at what the team-lead says and our documentation for the entire previous project. We need to ensure that this will not disrupt the work of current components and that this code will be easy to maintain.
As you know, modern libraries and frameworks allow us to work with a different stack in each part of the application.
Ultimately, the final decision will, of course, be up to the team and the team-lead, as the solution must align with the project's goals.
What are/were the best and the worst things in your current company?
SOLID, KISS.
I appreciated the processes established in my previous company.
We had beneficial habits, such as regular code documentation and allocating time for refactoring.
In our solutions, we always adhered to basic programming principles like SOLID and KISS.
The company encouraged a passion for delving deeper into the technology stack among its employees.
The worst thing I can recall is that sometimes our development department had communication gap with the analytics department. This could lead to delays in feedback. I believe that communication between departments is very important for the speed of development.
What aspect of your work is often criticized?
Throughout my development career, I've been criticized a couple of times for striving to be a perfectionist.
Over time, as I understood the pace of the entire team's work, I developed a habit of deeply understanding the iteration of the application development process.
This experience allows me to develop robust components for the application and refine them as needed. This principle is called YAGNI.
"You Aren’t Gonna Need It"
Describe your experience of working remotely
In my opinion, working remotely, especially across different time zones, requires advanced communication skills, as well as the ability to deeply understand each incoming task and not be afraid to ask clarifying questions.
Like in an office setting, it's necessary to follow established processes and protocols, and meet looming deadlines.
My experience working remotely has allowed me to develop the necessary skills, and my self-demand has enabled me to keep up with other team members, continue learning, and take on responsibility.
Do you feel more comfortable working on your own or in a team?
I need to ask you a clarifying question - are we talking about working in a team in general and my attitude towards teamwork, or about my ability to be both a part of a team and to work solo?
If this is a question about working in a team in general and my attitude towards teamwork, then in my opinion, there is currently no developer or product on the market that has been developed from scratch by just one person, even with the help of modern AI. Therefore, I believe in team development, constant communication with colleagues, and delivering only the necessary and well-written parts of code for our consumers.
If this is a question about the ability to work independently or in a team, then I would highlight that my experience enables me to assert that I am proficient in both aspects. I can break down complex tasks into manageable parts and complete them solo, but they should undoubtedly be only necessary parts of the code for the rest of the team. The business benefits only when each team member understands their role and the expectations of their colleagues.
What do you think are more important academic qualifications or experience?
In my opinion, a person with developed soft skills and experience possesses more sought-after characteristics than someone with formal education. Education undoubtedly provides fundamental knowledge, such as algorithms, finite automata theory, and data structures.
Any developer who wants to grow as a professional will have Thomas Cormen's book on algorithms in their arsenal and refer to it occasionally, regardless of whether they received formal education or not.
In my view, it's impossible to imagine a programmer who isn't learning something while working. Therefore, by hiring me, you can get a professional who knows how to learn, has experience working in teams, and has real-world experience in commercial projects.
How did you handle stress and pressure?
If this question pertains to tasks, then I always try to break them down into small and easily manageable parts. This way, I don't feel pressured thinking about the big task and I don't procrastinate trying to avoid it.
If the task involves new technologies, I'm always ready to find experienced colleagues in those technologies and ask them to help me understand. If they don't have time for it, I won't hesitate to Google the answer to my question. I'll find the best and widely accepted practice, adapting it to the project's needs.
If the question is about pressure from tight deadlines, then I believe the most important thing is to notify colleagues about the task deadlines and any deadline extensions if necessary. I want to say that I understand it's not appropriate to say "I won't make it by the deadline" if it's due in 10 minutes. It needs to be done in advance.
What did you dislike about your previous job?
I can't recall any negative aspects related to my previous job.
I enjoyed working with my team, and I value the experience I gained.
I would say that at times, I wished there was more synergy with neighboring departments and that they provided more feedback.
This would have had a more positive impact on the development speed. However, our team consistently met deadlines and delivered a good working product for the next stage of development.
What is your recent / big / main achievement?
Our team had to take over code from previous developers and integrate it into our project.
This was done under conditions of a lack of project documentation. To understand the codebase, we had to have numerous discussions with past developers.
Let's say there were unnecessary layers of abstraction in the project, which arose because the former head of development was very fond of the Gang of Four's book on design patterns. And literally for this reason, the entire project acquired unnecessary complexity. Additionally, code duplication occurred on the server, which was not required by the logic of that component. Together with the team, we significantly simplified the code, making it more readable and maintainable in the future, and also created documentation with the help of Docusaurus.
main
I worked with a team on a hotel booking system written in React.
My part was to develop a project for hotel staff. The project began with us receiving code from the previous team. Some components were up to 3,000 lines long, and the entire project lacked (лакт) documentation. So, I took these 3,000 lines and broke them down into small, reusable components, adding documentation support through Docusaurus.
Our team replaced outdated and unsafe useEffects in React with modern solutions from Next.js, eliminating (элиминэйтинг) errors like double booking a room by different managers at the same time.
As a result, the project became maintainable and scalable for the future.
Why did you leave your last job?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In the next 5 years, I see myself as a full-stack developer, continuing to work with React and TypeScript. However, I also want to learn Rust. I plan to use AI platforms to develop advanced applications.
To achieve this goal, my strategic plan includes a deep dive into the full development cycle and a more detailed study of software itself.
Overall, my main objective is to be at the forefront of AI-driven development, contributing to the creation of innovative solutions and collaborating with teams to push the boundaries of technology.
What are your salary expectations?
To answer this question, I’d like to learn more about the position if you don’t mind.
Well, according to my research, people living in NY with this position with my skill set tend to make $95k-140k a year.
However, with my expertise in software development, I’m looking to make on a higher end than that.
I’m so sorry but actually I’m not allowed to disclose that.
I’d be happy to discuss it if I’m given a written offer
Why did you choose the IT field?
I started developing small websites back in school, but my deep interest in the field emerged later. This is an interesting aspect of my background.
In 2016, I worked at one of the top digital advertising agencies. One of our clients for ad placements was Google, and agency employees often visited the company’s office for meetings with staff, gaining knowledge about Google’s beta products, and so on.
At one of these meetings, a Google representative mentioned that the company believed the future would be driven by small, custom scripts designed to optimize ad performance. After returning from that meeting, I delved into the topic of scripting and wrote my first solutions. Since then, I’ve been increasingly immersed in this world, starting with automation and then moving into front-end development.
During the COVID period, I also took up game development in C# as a hobby and participated in several game jams, which are similar to hackathons.
Now, I am fully engaged in full-stack development and plan to continue in this direction, with a detailed plan for the coming years.
What is your favorite bug?
work
When answering this question, I recall a story that happened in one of the neighboring teams. The team was running a recursion inside which there was a promise.
Simultaneously, a certain event was supposed to occur through a timer. However, that event never happened.
Investigating this aspect of how queues work in the JavaScript event loop is what I can call an interesting bug.
personal
I was developing my own 2D game and wanted to implement a drag-and-drop inventory system.
However, I couldn't get it to work. I took a vacation from work and spent two weeks researching various built-in solutions and third-party frameworks.
In the end, the drag-and-drop interface finally worked.
What tasks do you dislike the most?
I can't immediately recall any programming tasks that I didn't like.
Even tasks that seem routine can be automated, which is the beauty of repetitive work. And if they can't be fully automated, at least parts of them can be.
What I don't enjoy are tasks that aren't related to programming—like creating professional presentations for clients. But even that can be automated today.
What tasks do you not like?
Describe a time when you had to explain technical issues to a non-technical person. How did you handle that?
At Digital Vertex Enterprises, I worked on a project to develop a data-driven CRM system for a startup. During the project, we encountered a critical technical issue related to user authentication, where the system was occasionally failing to verify JWT tokens, causing potential security risks. The project manager, who was non-technical, needed to understand the gravity of this issue and how it could impact the system's integrity.
To explain the situation, I first gauged the project manager's understanding of the basic concepts, avoiding technical jargon. I explained that JWT tokens are like secure keys used to verify user identities, ensuring that only authorized users can access certain parts of the system. I likened the situation to having faulty locks on a building's doors, which could potentially allow unauthorized access.
To clarify further, I prepared a simple visual representation that showed how the tokens were supposed to work, and where the issue was occurring. This visual aid, coupled with my explanation, helped the project manager grasp the problem without needing to dive into the technical specifics.
Throughout the conversation, I encouraged questions and provided analogies to make the concepts more relatable. I also reassured the project manager that our team was already working on a solution and explained the steps we were taking to fix the issue and prevent it from happening again.
By the end of the discussion, the project manager understood the technical issue and its potential impact, which helped them make informed decisions regarding the project's timeline and resources. This experience highlighted the importance of clear communication and the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical perspectives in a team.
To resolve the issue, we conducted a thorough code review and discovered that the problem stemmed from a race condition in the token verification process. We addressed this by restructuring the asynchronous code to ensure that token validation occurred sequentially and without conflicts. Additionally, we implemented enhanced logging and monitoring to catch any similar issues early in the future.
When working on a challenging project, what strategies do you use to manage stress?
When faced with a challenging project, I use several strategies to manage stress effectively:
-
Prioritization: I prioritize tasks based on their urgency and impact, focusing on critical elements first to ensure that essential aspects are addressed. This helps prevent feeling overwhelmed and allows me to manage the project more systematically.
-
Clear Communication: I maintain open and transparent communication with my team. By sharing concerns, redistributing workload, and collaboratively finding solutions, we can tackle challenges together, reducing individual stress.
-
Breaks and Time Management: Taking short breaks to recharge and managing my time effectively are crucial. These practices help me maintain focus and prevent burnout, especially during intense periods.
-
Continuous Learning: I embrace a mindset of continuous learning, which allows me to view challenges as opportunities for growth. This perspective fosters resilience and helps me remain calm and adaptive in the face of stress.
-
Team Collaboration: Collaborating closely with my team creates a supportive environment where we can share problem-solving efforts and assist each other in managing project complexities. This mutual support helps to distribute the stress load.
-
Feedback and Adaptation: I regularly seek feedback and adapt to changing project dynamics. This proactive approach allows me to address issues early, mitigating potential stress triggers and ensuring smoother project execution.
Can you share an example of a decision you made that involved risk? How did you assess and manage the risk?
While working at Digital Vertex Enterprises, I was involved in the redevelopment of a Management System for a Real Estate Company. During this project, we were facing performance issues, particularly with page load times. Improving this was crucial for the client, as a significant portion of their user base relied on fast, responsive pages to manage real estate transactions.
To address this, I proposed using Next.js to optimize the system’s performance, specifically through implementing Static Site Generation (SSG) and Server-Side Rendering (SSR). While I was confident in the benefits, the decision involved significant risk because it required refactoring large parts of the existing codebase and had the potential to introduce new bugs or cause delays.
To assess the risk, I first conducted a detailed analysis of the current system, identifying the specific areas where performance was lagging. I also reviewed the documentation and best practices for Next.js to understand how it would interact with our existing technologies.
Given the potential impact on the project timeline and system stability, I proposed a phased approach:
- Incremental Implementation: I suggested starting with the most critical pages, where performance issues were most evident. By gradually rolling out SSG and SSR, we could monitor the impact and address any issues in smaller, more manageable segments.
- Backup Plan: I made sure that we had a rollback strategy in place. This would allow us to revert to the original setup quickly if the new implementation caused any significant issues.
- Regular Check-ins: I maintained close communication with the team and stakeholders, providing updates on our progress and any challenges encountered. This helped to ensure that everyone was aligned and prepared for potential risks.
As a result of these efforts, we achieved a 35% improvement in page load time without introducing major issues or delays. This decision not only enhanced the user experience but also demonstrated the importance of careful risk management and strategic planning in the development process.
How do you cope with repetitive and monotonous tasks?
You know, I've been eating the same porridge for breakfast for the last 10 years. I think I know everything about monotonous tasks.
In fact, whether it's for managing stress or dealing with monotonous tasks, I use a personal time management technique. I apply the Pomodoro technique, which helps me control my time and dive deeply into tasks.
When working on a repetitive task, I try to make it better each time, experimenting with something new if possible. I also think about how I can automate it altogether.
Why should we hire you?
How did you cope with conflicts at work?
I'm not a confrontational person. At work, we're there to realize our potential.
If I have a misunderstanding with someone,
I'm open to discussing it with the team lead and weighing the pros and cons.
If the misunderstanding is with the team lead, it's important to clearly and concisely present my point of view.
If we still can't reach an agreement or a solution, it may be necessary to involve a third party higher up to resolve the issue.
What is your biggest failure?
My biggest failure occurred early in my career when I was working on a major project at SFH Digital Marketing Agency. We were developing an internal control system for accounting operations, which included integrating banking APIs to automate payment monitoring. I was responsible for a significant part of the API integration, and due to my eagerness to deliver quickly, I skipped some thorough testing and validation steps.
After deployment, we discovered that certain API calls were not handling edge cases correctly, leading to inaccuracies in payment data. This caused delays and required a rushed fix to prevent financial discrepancies from affecting the entire system.
The failure taught me several important lessons:
- Testing and Validation: It reinforced the importance of taking the time to properly test and validate critical components, no matter how confident you are in your code.
- Communication: I learned the value of clear and proactive communication with the team and stakeholders about potential risks and the importance of setting realistic timelines.
- Understanding Requirements: I understood the significance of thoroughly understanding the requirements and constraints before rushing into implementation.
Since then, I've adopted a more disciplined approach to testing and validation and am more mindful of the need to balance speed with accuracy. This experience has made me a more careful and strategic developer, and it's something I continually reflect on to improve my work.
